With Web-Native, Agentless, 4K, 60+ FPS, and Lossless Streaming Capability, Kasm Technologies Releases KasmVNC v1 Open Source VNC Server. The open source images for Kasm Workspaces that are readily accessible through Kasm’s Docker Verified Publisher images on DockerHub in technical collaboration with Docker complement this code.

Release of KasmVNC v1 has been announced by Kasm Technologies. Open source streaming technology KasmVNC is used to stream desktop, application, and web containers to the browser. The VNC Server is now accessible with the release of KasmVNC, which is the first official, non-beta version.

The streaming technology for Workspaces container images is KasmVNC. It was developed in conjunction with VirtualGL and Arm to support the next generation of streaming services. In order to accommodate contemporary technology and improve security, KasmVNC deviates significantly from existing VNC flavours by departing from the RFB specification:

  • Web-based/Agentless – Designed for remote desktops that are web-native and have a web server and sockets.
  • Streaming Performance – Increased frame rate and web client performance during streaming. Users will observe a 150%+ frame rate boost over earlier versions.
  • Cybersecurity – Disabled legacy VNC RFB HTTP Basic authentication technique and enhanced security with HTTPS transport.
  • Lossless Mode – Quite OK Image “QOI” compression is used in lossless streaming in order to ensure complete image accuracy at the fastest frame rate. *Note: Lossless mode can use more than 1 Gbps with HD+ resolutions at 60 frames per second and is designed for high throughput, low latency local LAN implementation.

“Kasm v1 represents the culmination of a number of performance, security, and usability enhancements,” said Matt McClaskey, Kasm Technologies CTO, “these features, along with additional platform support and the documentation-as-code project make KasmVNC the most advanced VNC server available and ready to take on enterprise environments.”
