Samagra, a governance consulting firm, recently launched ‘Code for GovTech,’ an Open source Gov-Tech mentoring program for engineering students (C4GT). This summer coding programme will run from May to August. Those who have been diagnosed can apply through Samagra’s official website. Those selected as contributors will also receive a stipend and a job opportunity with prominent GovTech firms, according to the firm.

According to the firm, students will be able to learn from and interact with GovTech practitioners both inside and outside the government as part of the programme. “They will also receive hands-on 1:1 mentoring from ecosystem pioneers such as EkStep, Tekdi, NavaDhiti, and others.” This is an opportunity for students to contribute to the actively evolving Digital Public Goods that affect millions of people, as well as to begin a high-impact career in prominent GovTech companies.” The C4GT will be held on the Open Source platform GitHub.

Commenting on the C4GT launch, Gaurav Goel, CEO & Founder, Samagra stated, “In a country of more than 130 crore citizens, the importance of technology in ensuring last-mile delivery of public services in a standardized manner, cannot be underestimated. The role of GovTech in solving the pressing governance challenges of our times is only going to increase. And therefore there is a need for the best engineering talent in the country to become a part of and lead the next wave of GovTech innovation. Code for GovTech has been designed as a way to create a tech talent pipeline which can solve some of the most complex challenges facing India.’’

Among the program’s mentors are Ashwin Date, CTO and Co-Founder of Tekdi Technologies, Bachi Allamsetty, Co-Founder of NavaDhiti, Chakshu Gautam, and SamagraX.
