MariaDB Corporation has announced the launch of MariaDB TX 2.0, an open source database solution specifically targeted at enterprises. The company has incorporated its latest technology, tools and services in the new database to deliver an advanced experience to enterprise customers.

With the growing demand from enterprises for agility, scalability and security along with an easy-to-use interface, MariaDB TX 2.0 emerges as a one-stop solution. The database is touted to bridge the gap between high-cost functionality of proprietary databases and modern architecture of open source databases. Further, it brings support for JSON, MyRocks and data masking.

“With the introduction of MariaDB TX today, we’re taking another first step – packaging MariaDB technology, tools and services into a unified offering to help customers succeed with MariaDB infrastructure: MariaDB Server, MariaDB MaxScale and MariaDB Cluster,” the MariaDB team writes in an announcement.

The presence of JSON within the new MariaDB TX version makes it source for storing data not just from desktops and servers but also from mobile and IoT devices. There are also enhanced security functions.

Security features on board

MariaDB TX 2.0 includes data masking to let enterprises hide their sensitive data at the time of performing queries. Also, the fresh addition enables the database to protect identifiable and sensitive data. Enterprise customers can additionally use the built-in result set limit to specify a maximum amount of data returned in a query. This helps to prevent DDoS attacks.

Developers can use MyRocks with MariaDB TX 2.0 for better compression, data loading and fast replication. Further, the database solution offers enhanced SQL compatibility and functions like common table expressions and window.

You can download the MariaDB TX 2.0 from its official website. The new version is available alongside MariaDB Server 10.2 and MariaDB MaxScale 2.1 that both uplift the popular open source database lineup.
