Magento

What WordPress is for the CMS industry, Magento is for the e-commerce technology.  Both are open source and wildly popular.  As per Magento’s website, Magento powers more than 2,40,000 online stores and over 34 percent of Alexa’s top million sites. Far more leading e-commerce sites use Magento than any other platform. The real strength of Magento lies in its scalability and enterprise level features. No matter what the size of your business or the number of products in your catalog, Magento can easily handle all your tasks. Moreover, when it comes to e-commerce, Magento is the ideal platform with inexpensive, powerful and efficient customisation solutions.

Let’s have a look at some of the major reasons that make Magento an ideal choice for your e-commerce store.

Offers full control

Magento offers commendable ability; it is unique with template-based platform options. With Magento, store owners and developers can have full control over the front- and back-end of an eStore, which means your online store can be fully customised and controlled with outstanding features.

Having full control helps online merchants fulfill any vision that they have for their store without compromising on the limitations of the platform.

Advanced catalog management

With advanced product upload features, Magento gives the option to add thousands of items to a single import. It has catalogue management features that include multiple categories and dynamic product attributes. Comparisons, wish lists, search results list and related products blocks all work like a breeze with Magento’s advanced capabilities.

Supportive community

The Magento community includes users, store owners, developers and service providers; they can be a great helping hand when it comes to the support system and resources for Magento users. While building Magento store, there is always someone in the community who has already fixed your roadblocks. Magento platform is extremely helpful and the perfect time-saver as it helps overcome issues and takes online stores to a level higher.

Various extensions and functionality

Magento offers a massive collection of extensions and functionality. Merchants have a high chance of freedom and flexibility to optimise their store and make it more robust. The most popular Magento extensions include “shopping cart”, “one page checkout” and many others. Such extensions make online more customer-friendly with their rich features and functionalities. e-commerce retailers can have extensions as per their needs and budget.

Offers scalability

There is no denying the fact that Magento is a highly scalable platform that means with the right configuration and hardware it can fulfill all types of business requirements. For instance, if a Magento store has a sudden boost in traffic, its performance would not be affected especially when supported by a robust server. Other platforms may not be able to manage this type of influx in the same manner. Such limitations would have tough consequences like slow page load speed and website crashing. As a result, there will be a loss of revenue and customers. Fortunately, Magento being the perfect platform offers scalability that ensures e-commerce stores function well at every phase of their growth.

Free and open source

Magento is an open source platform. This itself means that store owners and programmers can access source code while building e-commerce stores and utilise its flexibility and freedom with some great functionalities. Developers can modify the functionalities of the store as per requirement.

As per the e-commerce context, developers can have full control on things like stores’ processing information and display information. Store owners can also leverage complete control over the logic and design of store pages. Another plus point of the platform is that its community version is available for free. So if you are an experienced developer, you can have an e-commerce website for free.

SEO friendly

Magento offers diverse search engine optimised features which are more than enough to support all SEO requirements. As a user, you will get the most compelling SEO features with various URL options, sitemaps, keywords and meta tags – descriptions and title. Magento also comes readily available with Google Sitemap installed, giving your team an opportunity to inculcate search engines what products or services or solutions are incorporated into your online store.

Product alerts

Magento enables customers to subscribe to two types of alerts by email: in-stock alerts and price change alerts. In price alerts whenever the price changes or any special price promo going on, the one who has signed up receives an email alert. In-stock alerts, on the other hand, specify that the product is back in-stock that was previously not in stock. Such alert notifications are quite helpful in bringing the customers back to the store and reconsider purchasing the product that might have been selected earlier.

  1. Magento is indeed my favorite Ecommerce solution amongst Opencart, WooCommerce and Shopify. Tried them all! But I’d like to point out that although Magento comes with the pre-built sitemap, you have to generate one manually. And even though Magento can handle a massive number of products, you’d have to go for a plugin if you want to generate sitemap for a huge number of products. I found this one to be best

  2. You have mentioned very good point here. I liked the points you’ve mentioned i.e., Multi-site, Single Install, Easy to Extend, SEO-Friendly. This post is very simple yet effective and informative in nature. As we all know Magento is an Open Source eCommerce Platform, it is free and still it does provide better results than any other Platform. So Magento will be good choice for sure.
