Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), an initiative of Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industries announced Grand Hackathon with 2 sets of challenges.
The first challenge ‘Innovation Hackathon’ is to push for innovative solutions to power digital commerce in an open network encompassing development of reusable software components for expedited technological readiness and accelerated joining of network participants such as software for digitising catalogues, inventory management for smaller Kirana shops & vendors etc. It also focuses on solutions to develop reusable software components and enable open contributions to the Beckn Protocol.
Integration Hackathon, the second set challenges to accelerate development of applications, that are compatible with ONDC and integrate these applications with the applications of other such participants to enable eCommerce transactions on ONDC network.
Participants will be required to create software/ software components to address following challenge statements. The total award money and grants up sum to INR 50 Lakhs for the Hackathon along with support and opportunity to join ONDC as an early adopter.
Accordingly, as per the guidance of DPIIT, a project management unit has been setup under the aegis of Quality Council of India (QCI) to convert ONDC concept to the reality. QCI has engaged ONDC Core team comprising of experts with prior experience in design and development of other population scale initiatives for leading the charge of implementation of ONDC.
