Open source software company SUSE will help any organisations building medical devices to fight COVID-19. It is offering free support and maintenance for its SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) operating system and container technologies. These SUSE solutions are available immediately to help speed time to market for device manufacturers.

SUSE Linux Enterprise is an operating system that can be built into, and help run, various kinds of devices, hardware, and appliances. SUSE Embedded Linux comes with an optimized system footprint for specific products, including medical devices said SUSE.
SUSE is also offering free support for its container and cloud technologies. It includes SUSE CaaS Platform which allows companies to use Kubernetes to more easily deploy and manage container-based applications and services. It also includes SUSE Cloud Application Platform which brings an advanced cloud-native developer experience to Kubernetes allowing companies to get applications to the cloud and devices to market faster.
The company said that SUSE customers in the pharmaceutical and research space along with national laboratories situated globally are already using supercomputers running SUSE Linux Enterprise to find solutions to issues posed by COVID-19. These include prevention, treatment, and cures.
