Parrot Security OS 3.7

Frozenbox Network has released the version 3.7 of its security-focused Linux distro Parrot Security OS. The latest release comes with Linux kernel 4.11 and is based on Debian 10.

The Parrot Security team has launched the new major release just two months after the previous version. One of the major noticeable changes within Parrot Security OS 3.7 is Linux kernel 4.11 that comes along with updated packages. The updated platform is also based on the Debian 10 ‘Buster’ version.

Devuan to Debian 10

It was originally reported that Parrot Security engineers were considering to switch from Debian to Devuan as the base operating system. The team had even hinted the initial development through a recent tweet. However, it has now been confirmed that the Parrot Security team has decided to continue its journey with Debian for the time being.

“It is not an easy migration, and we have still to decide what to do,” the Parrot Security team writes in a Facebook post, suggesting the latest decision.

Debian 10 ‘Buster’ is currently under development. It would succeed the Debian 9 release that was debuted last month.

Better hardware support

In addition to the upcoming Debian, Parrot Security OS 3.7 includes better hardware support through the kernel 4.11. An important highlight of the update is also the introduction of the new ARC theme. You will additionally notice some much-improved system upgrades in the latest release.

The latest Parrot Security OS ensures a wide range of improvements as compared to the previous releases. The team has also upgraded the performance of Parrot Air that has been dedicated to wireless penetration testing.

You can download the latest Parrot OS 3.7 from its official website. The distro is available for both 32- and 64-bit architecture.
