Feren OS, the Ubuntu-based platform that makes it easier to switch to Linux, has received a new version. Called Feren OS 2017.0 Murdock, the new operating system brings Linux Mint 18.1 Serena along with some latest features and tweaks.

The presence of Linux Mint 18.1 on Feren OS 2017.0 comes with the power of Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus). Also, it includes the Cinnamon 3.2 desktop environment.

New screen to welcome you

Alongside the fresh Linux Mint, the new Feren OS version brings a brand new welcome screen known as Feren Welcome. It is the in-house welcome screen that includes a beginner’s guide to let you easily install the OS on your PC. Notably, the Feren Welcome replaces the usual Mint Welcome tool.

The development team behind Feren OS has also changed the default desktop icons on the platform. The new set of icons makes it easier to access the Dark Mode as well as enhances the reachability to the new Welcome Screen and Themer. You can even customise the installation as per your need.

Themer is also improved in this version. Further, users can customise the look and feel of their OS using the new set of themes.

Updated core components

All the core components and apps have been updated to their newest Murdock version. The development team has also fixed all the reported issues and bugs. Besides, the Feren OS update has enabled automatic updates by default.

You can download the Murdock ISO image from the official Feren OS website. It is specifically compatible with the systems based on 64-bit architecture.
