Dell has announced an enhanced version of its open source operating system called the OS10. The company has also launched its two new data-centre switches that are being powered by the latest platform.

The OS10 Enterprise Edition is an improved version of the open-source operating system that was debuted last year. The platform is based on technologies from Linux Foundation and Open Compute Project. Also, there is layer 2 and layer 3 networking functionality that enables the software for different environments.

Dell is already providing its OS10 in a beta form. It comes with a networking stack to deliver you an advanced experience.

New in-rack switches leverage fresh development

Alongside the OS10, Dell has brought its S5100-ON and S4100-ON range of in-line switches. The hardware has 25-Gigabit Ethernet ports and is ideal for Web 2.0, enterprise, and cloud service providers.

Dell has been an active supporter of open networking. The initiative helped in preventing the proprietary software and hardware combination. Furthermore, the company has a range of products that are compliant with ONIE (Open Network Install Environment). This compliance makes customers free to buy the new hardware equipment along with any third-party software options of their choice.
