Linux kernel maintainer Greg Kroah-Hartman has announced maintenance updates to Linux 4.4, 4.9 and 4.10. All the three long-term supported (LTS) Linux kernels have received yet another maintenance just five days after releasing the previous one.

Linux kernel 4.10.6 brings 31 file changes, 188 insertion and 114 deletions. Whereas Linux 4.9.18 LTS has 28 files, 169 insertion and 116 deletions and Linux 4.4.57 LTS comes with 38 new files, 192 insertions and 179 deletions. Kroah-Hartman has mentioned updated git trees in a mailing list announcement that will help enhance the experience.

Most of the changes within the new kernel updates are upgraded drivers as well as improvements to NFS, EXT4 and GFS2 filesystems. The three Linux releases also bring enhancements to SCSI, CPUfreq, ISDN, HV, PINCTRL, HV, AMD GPU, USB and MD. Besides, there are certain changes to the PowerPC (PPC), s390, PA-RISC and x86 architectures.

Users running Linux 4.4, 4.9 and 4.10 branches are recommended to update to latest 4.4.57, 4.9.18 and 4.10.6 as soon as it is available in their specific distro’s repositories. OS vendors can download the tarball from the kernel.org website.
