Oracle has pushed maintenance updates to its Virtualbox 5.0 and 5.1 series. Emerged as VirtualBox 5.1.18 and 5.0.36, the new versions are designed to enhance the user experience and improve the built-in support for shared folders.
Through the VirtualBox 5.1.18 release, Oracle has addressed the issues in accessing long paths and case-sensitive file names. These issues were mainly reported by Windows users.
The Oracle team has also fixed snapshot handling of medium attachments and PCI device attachments. Additionally, the latest VirtualBox 5.1 addresses the regression limitation from its 5.1.16 version that was effecting 32-bit Windows systems and fixes a VM log collection issue and improved the experience for Linux hosts with a tweaked autostart service script.
Minor changes to VirtualBox 5.0 series
Compared with VirtualBox 5.1.18, the VirtualBox 5.0.36 is a minor upgrade. However, you can find fixes for case-insensitive file names, long paths and VM log collection.
You can download the latest VirtualBox releases on your system directly from the Oracle website. The updates are available Linux, macOS and Windows systems.
