January Android security update

As we just stepped into the New Year, it is the time for Google to fix bugs and patch vulnerabilities in its Android. The search giant has brought the January security update for Android Nougat running Nexus and Pixel devices.

The latest Android security update has fixed as many as 95 vulnerabilities. Of the total number of vulnerabilities, 23 bugs are fixed through the 2017-01-01 patch, while 72 are patched through the 2017-01-05 patch.

“This bulletin has two security patch level strings to provide Android partners with the flexibility to more quickly fix a subset of vulnerabilities that are similar across all Android devices,” reads the new Android security bulletin.

The Google Pixel and Pixel XL have received the NMF26U and NMF26V updates, while the Nexus 6P has got the N4F26I and N4F26J builds and the Nexus 5X has been updated with the N4F26I build. Google has also released the security update for the Nexus 6, Pixel C and Nexus 9.

You can download the factory images and OTA images from the official Android Developer website. Furthermore, Google has notified its OEM partners for some serious issues that are available through the most recent Android Open Source Project (AOSP) repository.
