Intel’s lean and fast distribution Clear Linux has received a new update. The update brings auto-updating support and includes newer Linux kernel. Linux Kernel 4.8.11, Mesa 13 and X.Org Server 1.19.

The most exciting part about the latest Clear Linux version is auto-updates. Users have been eyeing for this addition for a long time. The advanced support enables default delivery of updates whenever they are pushed in repositories. There is also an option to disable the auto-updating feature.

The official release statement confirms that the automated updates are periodically performed in the background as well as at the boot time. You can even auto update your container images based on priority.

The updated Clear Linux is powered by Linux 4.8.11 kernel. It also features X.Org Server 1.19 display server and OpenGL 4.4/4.5 API for gaming. There is Mesa 13.0.1 3D graphics library based on OpenGL API. Other important additions include, GStreamer 1.10.0, Nginx 1.11.5, Node.js 7.0.0, Open vSwitch 2.6.0, Swift 2.10.0, cURL 7.51.0, Ansible 2.2.0, Beignet 9 and several updated drivers.
