Firefox end support on Windows XP, Vista

Mozilla is ultimately on a move to retire its open source Firefox browser for Microsoft’s Windows XP and Windows Vista. The web browser will leave the dated Windows platforms sometime in 2017.

“In approximately March, 2017, Windows XP and Vista users will automatically be moved to the Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR),” the Mozilla team writes in a blog post.

Though Firefox will remove support for Windows XP and Vista, security updates will continue to be available for both the versions until September 2017. Further, details about the final support end date will be announced sometime in the middle of next year.

Mozilla has recommended upgrading to a newer Windows version. Users would either opt for a free open source platform like Ubuntu or spend money on a Windows platform. Notably, the Firefox version 52 will be the last complete update for Windows XP and Vista systems.
