Raspberry Pi 3 Model B 64-bit SUSE OS

While Raspberry Pi Foundation has not yet brought a specific operating system for Raspberry Pi 3 Model B, SUSE is filling up the gap with its latest release. The open source company has developed a Raspberry Pi version of its 64-bit Linux Enterprise Server OS that supports the new Raspberry Pi 3 Model B.

SUSE has customised all the drivers to make the new OS compatible with Raspberry Pi 3 Model B. The OS is packaged as an image to help users install it via SD card. It includes all popular development tools that will help you build your innovative projects.

Unlike the Raspbian, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for the Raspberry Pi uses the default SUSE Linux Enterprise kernel for AArch64. There is also the AArch64 instruction set and U-Boot boot loader with EFI boot environment.

Although this Pi is available for free, SUSE has released the product as 60-days evaluation package. You can continue to use the product with one-year self-service subscription without any hassle. However, you may have to purchase the licensed subscription at the end of the one year unless SUSE decides to offer another year for free.
