SUSE has expanded open source presence in India by enabling its OpenStack Cloud platform through Pi Datacenters. As a result of the new partnership, both the companies will collaboratively offer industry-specific cloud solutions to Indian enterprise customers.

Amaravati-based Pi Datacenters is claimed to have become the first software-defined data centre (SDDC) and cloud service provider to offer SUSE OpenStack Cloud entirely. This achievement would enable more flexibility for existing SUSE customers as they will now get a chance to deploy SUSE OpenStack Cloud beyond their in-house data centers.

SUSE and Pi Datacenters will leverage each other’s strength in delivering next-generation data centre and cloud services to enterprises in India,” said Rajarshi Bhattacharyya, country head, SUSE, in a joint statement.

In addition to its advantage to existing SUSE customers, the alliance will provide Pi clients with agility and stability on OpenStack. Moreover, the partnership will offer an ease to enterprises seeking the possibility to migrate on SUSE OpenStack.

“The smooth integration of SUSE OpenStack Cloud with other major elements of our data centre environment like Arista SDN and SDS has been key in making Pi a true software-defined data centre,” stated Kalyan Muppaneni, founder and CEO, Pi Datacenters.

Pi Datacenters is set to deliver its software-defined network (SDN) through SUSE OpenStack and Arista to let clients deploy NFV (network functions virtualisation) in the network infrastructure. Also, SUSE OpenStack Cloud will help the company integrate the cloud orchestration on a large number of its data centers from a single control centre.

Potential in Indian cloud market

Nuremberg-headquartered SUSE has started considering the possibilities to mark growth with various India-centric developments. Huge potential in the Indian cloud market recently inclined the company to uplift domestic cloud. Just last month, the tied up cloud storage provider ESDS to enter the data centre space in the country.
