Days after its debut on Android, Linux, macOS and Windows, Mozilla has finally released Firefox 50.0 for all the popular Ubuntu versions. The updated web browser comes with various security patches.
Mozilla Firefox 50.0 improves performance for SDK extensions and enhances the experience using the SDK module loader. The browser also includes download protection for several executive file types. Further, there is native Emoji fonts support to let you add emojis right on your browsing screen, without using any plugin or addon.
Addresses security issues
Canonical has additionally revealed that the new Firefox version addresses a large number of security issues. There are as many as 18 vulnerabilities that are patched through the update.
It is worth noting that security fixes are available for packages including Ubuntu 16.10, 16.04 LTS, 14.04 LTS and 12.04 LTS. You are also recommended to update your Ubuntu OS to the latest version before installing Firefox 50.0 on your system.
