Black Lab Enterprise Linux 8 Service Pack 1

Black Lab Linux has released the Black Lab Enterprise Linux 8 Service Pack 1. The new version is based on Linux kernel 4.4.0-45.66 and comes with an advanced rebootless kernel installation support. The kernel version comes with a patch to fight against newly discovered Dirty Cow bug.

The Service Pack 1 offers a hybrid operating system to let you deploy local as well as cloud applications. Also, the update comes with KDE 5.5 desktop.

To enable rebootless kernel installs, the latest Black Lab Enterprise Linux 8 has Kspice. This works similar to the livepatch service that Canonical recently released for Ubuntu devices.

Further, Black Lab has added popular apps like Thunderbird, Inkspace, Skype, Webmin and GIMP in Black Lab Linux 8 SP1. The latest version of the enterprise OS also brings full UEFI and Snap support. This enables users to install Ubuntu snap packages immediately.

You can download the latest Black Lab SDK that supports Enterprise Linux 8 SP1.

It is worth noting that Black Lab recently commercialised the enterprise version of its desktop environment. Therefore, you need to purchase Black Lab Enterprise 8 SP1 to use it.
