Canonical has finally started pushing the OTA-13 update to Ubuntu Touch smartphones and tablets. The over-the-air update brings a list of essential features and upgrades the framework version to 15.04.7.
Ubuntu Touch OTA-13 comes with power daemon implementation that improves the battery life of the device. The new version also includes legacy application copy-paste support and an initial storage framework. Additionally, Canonical has provided updated Oxide video player, multiple calendar sync and GStreamer 1.8.2 framework.
There is an updated keyboard with support for Latvian and Korean languages, emoji improvements and a new system indicator. Many of the default apps have also received updates.
For developers, Canonical has provided a new C++ UbuntuMetrics library that helps in monitoring metrics in QtQuick 2 apps.
The OTA-13 update also packs with several bug fixes. There are improvements for Bluetooth pairing, Wi-Fi connectivity, camera orientation, audio and video sync and app startup.
All Ubuntu mobile devices including BQ Aquarius E4.5 and Aquaris E5 as well as Meizu MX4 and Pro 5 are compatible with the new Ubuntu Touch update. Canonical is recommending to manually install the OTA-13 image to Nexus 4 and Nexus 7. If you have flashed Ubuntu Touch on a different device, you will receive the update in few days.
