Samsung has extended its smartphone portfolio with the launch of the Samsung Z2 in India. The new model brings 4G support to Tizen ecosystem at an affordable price of Rs. 4,590.
The Samsung Z2 comes preloaded with features such as Ultra Data Saving mode, S Bike mode and My Money Transfer. Samsung has partnered with Reliance Jio to bundle Jio Preview Offer with the smartphone that provides free voice and data services for a limited period.
“Samsung Z2 makes 4G accessible and relevant to the unique needs of feature phone users and first-time smartphone buyers. It brings consumers a fast and affordable mobile internet experience that will democratize 4G usage in the country,” said Manu Sharma, vice president — mobile business, Samsung India Electronics, in a press statement.
Successor to last year’s offering
As a successor to the Z1, the Samsung Z2 has a 4-inch WVGA display and a 1.5GHz quad-core CPU with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. Additionally, the smartphone has a microSD card slot to offer expandable storage for up to 128GB.
The Tizen smartphone features a 5-megapixel camera sensor on the rear with an LED flash and a VGA camera sensor on the front. It comes in a variety of color options, including gold, black and wine red.
Contest for developers
Samsung is hosting ‘Tizen App Challenge’ to encourage Unity developers to build apps for its Tizen operating system. The contest will run until November 21 and will be open for developers who provide a Unity-based game application service.
