Microsoft organised the first open source conference in India, the ‘Microsoft Openness Days’ on Monday, 21 March 2016.

The conference was inaugurated with the aim of assisting 1,000 architects, developers and cloud professionals in discovering and leveraging Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform for government and enterprise solutions as per a statement issued by Microsoft.

The conference comprises of “Open Hack”, which is India’s first open source on Azure hackathon by Microsoft. It has the support of the Telangana government.The hackathon is of six hours duration and will give developers the option of working on and showcasing innovative applications and solution ideas based on the state government’s digital initiatives.

According to Jayesh Ranjan, secretary – information technology, electronics and communications department, Telangana government, “We are a firm supporter of technology to drive Telangana’s growth and development. We are very pleased to partner with Microsoft to host the Open Hack in our state.”

Microsoft and T-Hub will be selecting top six apps and teams for further development, mentoring and building market readiness. The winners are also going to be rewarded with exciting devices among other prizes.
