Linux kernel 3.2.88 and 3.16.43 LTS now available

Linux kernel 3.2 and 3.16 LTS have received maintenance releases. While Linux 3.2.88 LTS is designed with improvements to network protocols, Linux 3.16.43 LTS offers an upgraded hardware experience with various bug fixes and performance enhancements.

Linux 3.2.88 LTS is a small update with only five file changes, ten insertions and eight deletions. Linux kernel 3.16.43 LTS, on the other hand, brings 48 new files, 366 insertions and 1246 deletions.

Among the important changes in the Linux kernel series 3.16, there are quite a few improvements for MIPS hardware architecture, updated drivers and various fixes to NFS and sysfs filesystems. The new kernel version also brings improvements to core kernel, security and mm changes. Furthermore, the updated networking stack promises improved performance with netlink.

Linux maintainer Ben Hutchings has published the updated git tree. All the users of Linux 3.16 and 3.2 kernel series are recommended to upgrade to the latest version.

Users on GNU/Linux distros powered by Linux kernel 3.2 and 3.16 LTS series should upgrade as soon as the release is available in the respective repository. Meanwhile, the source tarballs have been published on the kernel.org website.
