Fedora 26 release gets delayed

Fedora’s development team has delayed the release of its 26th version by another week. The alpha release of the open source platform will be available on April 4.

According to software-centric website Softpedia, the new release dates for Fedora 24 are finally scheduled. The team has set the alpha release for April 4, while its beta version will be out on May 30 and the final release is reportedly scheduled for June 27. You can expect the beta freeze on May 16 and final release Freeze on June 13.

No major changes and features are likely to be released after final freezing. However, there is no official announcement from Fedora about the dates.

Fedora 26 will feature all new GNOME 3.24 desktop environment for workstation edition and Linux 4.11 kernel. The major addition is Mesa 17 3D Graphics library along with X.Org server 1.19 display. The final build spins will also receive latest versions of supported desktop environments such as KDE Plasma 5.10, MATE 1.18, Xfce 4.12.3 and Cinnamon 3.2.

Notably, Fedora 26 will be the last release of Linux distro by Red Hat that will come in an alpha build during development cycle. The Fedora team had formally revealed the latest development in February.
