OpenSUSE Tumbleweed Linux 4.9.7

OpenSUSE has finally added Linux 4.9.7 to its Tumbleweed distribution. A total of six OpenSUSE Tumbleweed snapshots have been published in the last seven days, and the most recent brings several exciting goodies for users.

The major addition to the latest update is certainly the new Linux kernel. It comes through the 20170204 snapshot. The new kernel version includes updated config files and a major fix to DWARF (debugging with attributed records format).

In addition to the kernel, the new OpenSUSE Tumbleweed snapshots come with NetworkManager 1.6.0, GNU Compiler Collection 6.3.1, Wine 2.1, Mercurial 4.1, NetworkManager-applet 1.4.4, Epiphany browser 3.22.6, Krita 3.1.2.1, GStreamer 1.10.3, Snapper 0.4.3 and Vulkan 1.0.39.1. There is support for the Perl client ddclient version 3.8.3 and the yast2-installation 3.2.20 brings an all-in-one installation overview for SUSE’s Container as a Service Platform.

The OpenSUSE team has additionally updated libraries and packages in the new Tumbleweed snapshots. There are Perl-bootloader 0.197, python-cryptography 1.7.2, libvirt-python 3.0.0, yast2-installation 3.2.20, getdata 0.10.0 DDclient 3.8.3, ca-certificates-mozilla 2.11 and vm-install 0.8.60.

You can update your system using the latest OpenSUSE Tumbleweed snapshots. It is recommended to reboot the machine once the updates are installed to get the fresh experience.
