Linux Kernel 4.3.1 Released! Brings Several ARM, x86 Improvements

Linux 4.3 kernel users must update to this newer version.

Linux kernel developer Greg Kroah-Hartman announced the first maintenance release of Linux Kernel version 4.3. The release comes after about a month of release of Linux kernel 4.3. By now, the Linux lovers were getting impatient about the maintenance releases. The long wait got over with the release of Linux kernel 4.3.1. The best part is that the latest Linux release brings in a host of interesting features. Going by the numbers it has about 136 files that are changed, with 1,224 insertions and 438 deletions.

Making the announcement, Hartman wrote, “I’m announcing the release of the 4.3.1 kernel. All users of the 4.3 kernel series must upgrade,” said Greg Kroah-Hartman. “The updated 4.3.y git tree can be found at: git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git linux-4.3.y and can be browsed at the normal kernel.org git web browser: http://git.kernel.org/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git;a=summary.”

As mentioned earlier, the latest Linux 4.3.1 brings in a host of improvements in ARM, x86, s390, MIPS, and ARM64 (AArch64) hardware architectures. Along with these, it also offers several networking updates, particularly focusing on Bluetooth, IPv6, IPv4, mac80211, NFC, TIPC (Transparent Inter-Process Communication) and Wireless. It also offers USB sound driver improvements.

Besides, the Linux Kernel 4.3.1 comes with a good number of driver updates for things including Bluetooth, CLK, MFD, NFC, PINCTRL, TTY, USB, Xen, and networking (mostly Wireless and Ethernet). The makers of Linux kernel have also introduced some under-the-hood improvements to make it more stable and reliable. Users of distributions running Linux kernel 4.3 are advised to upgrade to the latest Linux 4.3.1 kernel to enjoy the best of the latest.
